“There is creative reading as well as creative writing”
For women at an in-between point of life (out of college, beginning career, not yet married), the literary landscape can be pretty bleak. Melody Carlson’s engaging novel allows the reader to catch a glimpse into the lives of four very different housemates who are brought together by chance. The reader can quickly find a character with whom they identify, but has the opportunity to see the inner workings of each housemate as the first person narrative rotates each chapter. As they help one another transition into the “real world,” the friendships between these young women begin to blossom. The first book in what promises to be a great series is a must read for anyone looking for literary empathy as they are beginning to make their way in the world. I Heart Bloomberg is a great summer read!
